STAFFING FOR TODAY & TOMORROW’S VISION

Each year, finding, onboarding, and retaining staff seems to get more difficult. Beyond financial capacity, vision, or a passion for your church to reach its one, the next leader will be the lid for capacity. We must find, support, and develop younger staff like never before.

Three thresholds for staffing:
Launch Residency
Learn to Think Like a Recruiter
Rethink Compensation

Launch Residency

Who’s the next you? Your church must begin a process with the goal of growing young leaders into full-time staff. These candidates may be ministry-focused college grads, second-career members of your church, or even have a seminary degree. But how will you find, support, and develop them?

Learn to Think Like a Recruiter

Your organization must be always recruiting even if you aren’t hiring. Someone(s) on your team must champion the idea of building a referred pipeline of candidates. Learn how to serve them along their journey even if you don’t hire them (this time around).

ReThink Compensation

Setting aside senior pastors and executive pastors for a moment, staff salaries have been stagnant for over two decades. We should stop comparing ourselves to other churches, or to the public education system (both would say they are under-paying. Allowing our potential purple unicorns to leave after 7-10 years of experience is robbing the church of the most fruitful years of their ministry (the future ones). All leaders are worth more to the Kingdom with each subsequent year of experience.
